5 Habits to Make Your Space More Tidy

I often see people struggling with the never-ending cycle of cleaning, picking up, and organizing. However, there are simple techniques and habits that you can incorporate into your daily routine to make it feel less daunting. Here are my top five tips that can help you keep your space tidy and organized.

Five Habits to Make Your Space More Tidy

  1. Make your bed in the morning:

This can be the first win of the day! This is such a simple task, but so many people don’t do it! Even if it’s not right when you get out of bed, do this before leaving the room for the day. It starts your day off accomplishing an easy task and sets a positive tone for the rest of your day. Plus, who doesn't love the feeling of crawling into a neat and tidy bed at night?

  2. Put clothes in the hamper:

Let's face it - nobody really likes doing laundry. But by making it a habit to put your clothes in the hamper as soon as you take them off, you can prevent an overwhelming pile of laundry from accumulating on your floor. Eliminating floor clutter will help ease your mind and keep your space looking tidy. This is a great habit to teach your little ones early on (something I am currently teaching my four and one-year-olds to do!) Helping them form this habit at an early age, sets them up for success!

  3. Take your drinking glasses to the kitchen each morning:

Does anyone else let glasses pile up by their bedside table? I have definitely been guilty of this! I always need ice water by my bedside and sometimes would let 3-4 glasses pile up before begrudgingly taking them to the kitchen. It's time to break this habit! Instead, take your glasses with you to the kitchen each morning. By doing this, you prevent clutter from accumulating in your bedroom, and it's one less task you have to do later in the day.

  4. Put the dishes straight into the dishwasher:

Putting dishes right into the dishwasher instead of letting them pile up in the sink is a great way to eliminate kitchen clutter. Even if the dishwasher isn't full, wash it at night, and unload it in the morning. This habit can help you stay on top of your kitchen chores and prevent a pile of dishes from accumulating in your sink or on the counter.

  5. Change the toilet paper holder:

Do you leave your new toilet paper roll on top of the old one? Why is that such a common thing that people do? This habit can make your bathroom look cluttered and unorganized. Make it a practice to change the toilet paper holder when you use the last sheet. It's an easy task that can help you keep your toilet area organized and clutter-free. Throw away the old one when you go to wash your hands.

Incorporating these five easy habits into your daily routine can help you keep clutter at bay and maintain an organized space. Try one or two for a week and see the difference it makes!
